Welcome to Oslo, Norway, for the 2026 SCANSECT Annual Meeting. This year our conference will be open for 100 delegates.

The meeting will take place at the Radisson Blu Plaza in September 24–25.

The conference will begin on September 24 with a get-together in the industry exhibition area at the Radisson Plaza Hotel.
The official program starts on Friday morning, September 25, and an optional dinner will be held in the evening at the Plaza’s rooftop restaurant. 

The primary focus of SCANSECT 2026 in Oslo will be pediatric ECMO, highlighting clinical decision-making, technical strategies, and outcome optimization in pediatric extracorporeal life support. The program aims to address contemporary challenges in cannulation strategies, circuit management, patient selection, complication management, and evolving technologies within pediatric mechanical circulatory support.

In addition to the pediatric ECMO program, the SCANSECT scientific committee aims to explore complementary topics within perfusion and extracorporeal circulation. Areas under consideration include developments in cardioplegia strategies, hematocrit management during cardiopulmonary bypass, implementation of VR-based simulation in training and education, perspectives related to the EBCP Expert Consensus Document, and selected Master’s projects from the Scandinavian School of Cardiovascular Technology. These themes reflect SCANSECT’s broader commitment to advancing evidence-based practice, education, research, and innovation within the field.

The SCANSECT General Assembly will take place on September 26, and the meeting will conclude before lunch. 

The Radisson Plaza is located in the city centre of Oslo, close to Oslo Central Station, and is easily accessible by public transportation directly from Oslo Airport Gardermoen. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes by airport train.
